- Jules Payot (1859-1940): French pedagogue, educator, radical thinker of Republican France. He deeply influenced the educators of the period with his struggle for the renewal of education in a way that provided knowledge as well as the creation of a rational will. When his most famous work, Will Education, was published, it aroused great interest in the French and foreign press and was translated into many languages in a short time. In his work, Payot investigates the causes of weakness of will, especially in students and in all intellectual employees in general. It identifies tools that will create or strengthen emotions that will save people from weakness of will, and tools that will destroy or suppress the emotions that prevent us from controlling ourselves. He shows how to use these tools with examples to all students, teachers and intellectual employees in his work Will Education, which is the result of four years of examination and thought efforts. As Payot, who sees the scientist's duty as being able to ensure that the future is as we want, states with great humility in the preface of his work: There are still many steps to be taken on this path.
