The Windex pad attaches to the pole, and the pad gets dampened. Later, the window is hosed down, and the pad is rubbed all over the window, distributing soapy foam all over the window. Then the suds are hosed off, and the water sheets down, leaving clean windows. One pad is suitable for a few windows. It is more convenient to have more pads. However, the cost of refill pads is quite expensive compared to buying another starter kit.
