It also displays the rare property of double refraction, so when placed over text it will show double the image, slightly offset. Originally found in Iceland, a theory exists that the Optical Calcite had polarizing attributes and was utilized as a navigational instrument by seafarers in the Viking Age.Optical calcite can be a stone utilized to remind one of the double meaning of words and to assist one in communication during difficult conversations.
