    Answer: The number of pleats are only a general guide. Each brand has their own filter material so pleat count only compares within a brand. Go by the MERV number that is what it is used for.

    Answer: I, too, am considering these to be used as an insert in a cloth mask that has a pocket. So far, they sound safe, but I'm still vetting. I have seen people using them alone as a mask, but I would feel safer having this fabric between 2 layers of fabric, the content of which I know to be safe.

    Answer: I believe so. BUT that is a rare size. Suggest you go to the Filtrette site or check online at Home Depot or Lowes.
