| Directions | Oolitic aragonite is a fine natural substrate. Because of its small particle size, some cloudiness may occur when the product is first added to the aquarium. This is normal and usually clears as the tank settles and filtration runs. To reduce cloudiness during setup: 1. Do not pour water directly onto the sand. Pouring water directly into the substrate can stir up fine particles and cause the water to become very cloudy. 2. Add water slowly and gently. 3. Place a plastic bag, plate, bowl, or similar item over the sand and pour water onto that surface instead of directly onto the substrate. This helps slow the water flow and prevents the sand from being disturbed. 4. Allow time for the tank to settle. Fine particles may remain suspended in the water for a short period after setup. Running your filter continuously will help remove suspended particles. Cloudiness in a new aquarium may also be part of the cycling process. New aquariums can sometimes develop a cloudy appearance due to a natural bacterial bloom as the biological filter begins to establish. This is common in new tanks and typically clears as the aquarium stabilizes. For best results, avoid disturbing the substrate after filling the aquarium and allow the filtration system time to clear the water. |
