The rudder works well on Newport Vessels and Minn Kota trolling motors, and it has been successfully used on 55lb to 62lb thrust trolling motors. Although it may collect more grass and weeds around the shaft, this is a physical limitation rather than a design flaw. The rudder can be mounted on the trolling motor shaft easily, but it cannot be mounted on kayaks as a steering system since it needs a trolling motor to function best.
